Finca El Lino is part of the Buenos Aires family of farms in the Jinotega growing region. We've visited and buy coffees from the other farms, Acopio Suyatal, La Laguna, and of course Buenos Aires, all managed by the Valladarez family who between father Luis Emilio, and son Olman, have been growing coffee in the region for over 50 years. This lot is all Caturra, which is a cultivated mutation of Bourbon that occurred in Brazil in the mid '30s but was planted in South and Central America mostly in the 1950s. The coffee is grown around 1400 meters, and processed at the Buenos Aires beneficio down below, closer to town, then the wet parchment is moved from beneficio to the dry mill in Ocotal proper.
