There can be a huge range of cups from Papua New Guinea, and the so-called Plantation coffees represent the cleaner character of the coffee produced on the island... more like a good Central American than part of the Indonesian profile. This decaf is a good representation of the balanced flavors you can find in Papua New Guinea, and quite versatile in terms of roast level and brew methods. The lot is comprised of the coffee from many small farms in Goroka, which is part of the very high altitude Eastern Highland region. Coffee grows between 1700 and 2000 meters above sea level, and the farms are typically less than 1 hectare on average. It was decaffeinated by the folks at Swiss Water Decaf in Vancouver, Canada. Their water-only process method removes 99.9% of the caffeine from coffee without any chemical solvents.
