Pay with Bitcoin (Lightning) ⚡

Checkout with Bitcoin over Lightning — fast, low-fee, built for real commerce.

The 15-second version

  1. Checkout as normal
  2. Choose Pay with Bitcoin Lightning
  3. Scan the QR (desktop) or copy/paste the invoice (mobile)
  4. You’re back here with your confirmation

If you’re building a Bitcoin standard life: spend sats in the real world — and earn sats back when you buy.

Earn Bitcoin rewards (stack sats) 🟠

We offer Bitcoin rewards through our loyalty program (powered by Oshi). You earn sats from your purchases, and as you spend more over time, you can move into higher reward tiers.

How to earn rewards:
  1. Place your first order (card or Lightning — either works).
  2. After your order, you’ll receive an email inviting you to confirm/signup for Bitcoin rewards.
  3. Once you confirm, rewards accrue automatically as you buy.

You can view your rewards on your order page here: https://account.gillespie.coffee/orders

Why Bitcoin rewards beat “points”

Traditional points programs are store-specific and can change over time. Bitcoin rewards are denominated in sats and are designed to be simple: buy coffee, earn sats back, repeat.

  • Real value: sats are sats. Not store credit.
  • Low friction: you earn automatically after you confirm signup.
  • More over time: higher tiers unlock higher rewards as you keep buying.

Why pay with Bitcoin (not “crypto”)

Bitcoin isn’t a bank product and isn’t a corporate token. It’s a monetary network with rules no single party controls.

Bitcoin’s monetary properties

  • Hard cap: terminal supply is capped at 21 million.
  • Predictable issuance: new issuance follows a known schedule (roughly four-year “halving” cycles).
  • No central controller: no single issuer; changes require broad user adoption/consensus.
  • Settlement without mandatory intermediaries: payments can be made without asking permission.

Why that matters (Bitcoin standard)

Fiat systems can expand the monetary base through policy. Bitcoin is the opposite: fixed rules, fixed terminal supply.

A “Bitcoin standard” isn’t just holding BTC. It’s using it as your preferred money in day-to-day life. Spending for real goods is how adoption becomes normal commerce, not theory.

Why Lightning

On-chain Bitcoin is optimized for security and settlement. Lightning is optimized for small, fast payments — like coffee.

How to pay (takes ~30 seconds)

1) Shop as normal

Add items to cart → proceed to checkout.

2) Select the payment method

Choose Pay with Bitcoin Lightning (powered by Strike).

3) Pay the Lightning invoice

You’ll see a Strike payment screen with a QR code and an invoice string.

  • Desktop: scan the QR with your phone wallet
  • Mobile: copy the invoice string → paste into your wallet → pay

Important: Lightning invoices expire. If it times out, generate a new invoice and try again.

4) Confirmation

After payment, you’ll be redirected back and receive your confirmation email.

Tax note (US customers should not ignore this)

In the US, the IRS treats virtual currency as property. Paying with Bitcoin can create a taxable gain/loss event depending on your cost basis. Keep records.

Troubleshooting (quick fixes)

“My invoice expired.”

Normal. Generate a new invoice and pay again.

“The QR won’t scan.”

Turn up brightness → zoom out so the whole QR is visible → or use the invoice text copy/paste.

“I paid but didn’t see confirmation.”

Wait 60 seconds, check email, then contact us with your order number if it still looks wrong.

Security & privacy (plain English)

  • We never see or store your private keys.
  • You’re paying an invoice through Strike’s checkout flow.
  • You’ll still receive a standard Shopify order confirmation email.
