1517 Reformation Roast Review
Method, Aeropress inversion Brew
15g coffee milled to an almost coarse grind in a 1zpresso.
Put coffee in an inverted Aeropress, then drew 200 ml of water @ 175º
Initially, poured enough water to just wet the grind, let it sit for 30 seconds before adding the rest of the water, then allowed it to brew for two minutes. Stirred in a cross pattern two times, then applied the paper filter, which was rinsed in RO water before use. Placed the cup over the brewer and flipped it and began the press, slowly, just until the “hiss”. Added 50 ml of RO water and stirred once in a cross pattern with the Aeropress stirrer.
The initial sip reminded me of old diner coffee, but the next sip had a more interesting character, very flavorful without being overpowering, certainly not “burnt” like a Seattle-based coffee might be. I did appreciate the aftertaste, but did not notice the hint of blueberry others claimed, though this could be due to my own unique palate.
I'd recommend his to people nostalgic for the old school coffee house coffee from before the days when "Charbuck$" started dominating the coffee house scene.
I have always consumed my coffee as my father did with cream and sugar.
Most copies I would try black and I just could not tolerate the bitterness, I didn’t find it enjoyable at all.
The first moment I had 1517 Reformation roast blend. It was so incredibly smooth that I almost prefer to drink it black.
By far the most enjoyable cup I ever had! 
I don't taste much flavor. Perhaps I'm not adding enough grounds.

I was looking forward to finding a stronger but smooth flavor in comparison to the ones I have been drinking. This is a wonderful cup of coffee for me, I am thinking I may look for a similar blend from Gillespie next.
1517 bold and smooths
The flavor profile is consistent and taste great!
Once we received the 1517 beans, we couldn't wait to try it. It was simply delicious. After we brew 12 cups (2 - 32 oz mason jars full)we cold chill the brewed coffee, pour them in our glasses for the day, and add a little bit of chocolate milk. Its odd way to drink coffee but that mixture is mingled so well with the 1517. Cloud nice for taste!
I often recommend 1517 for cold brew. This recipe sounds tasty.

This coffee was delicious. The fresh roasted aroma is wonderful. I think I enjoyed that almost as much as the flavor. The coffee is a nice rich, dark roast. Perfect for that first cup of the day.
Terrific! I'd like to think it is more of a medium/medium-dark. But that's subjective. Enjoy!

My favorite brand and blend now. I was skeptical of the hint of blueberry as most coffees say hint of something and you can never taste it. This you can literally taste a very hint of blueberry. Awesome blend. Will buy more in the future.

I'm by no means a coffee connoisseur, nor am I banging 95 thesis into the doors of local churches - I'm just a simple man who enjoys a smooth cup of coffee. 1517 Reformation is just right, strong - like Luther's words, and yet easy on the palate. I like to try the other roasts, but this one has become a staple in my cupboard.

So great to have fresh, micro batch roasted coffee after a little time of “convenient” mass produced site stuff (which is fine) but this was so welcome... I use a Chemex and Aeropress- but the normal pot worked great today- thanks CBG!
If you want delicious craft coffee in the convenience of your own home, this is the place to get it! I admit I kind of tried the 1517 roast just for the name. But I think this is my favorite of the 4 or 5 different Coffee by Gillespie roasts I've tried. Although you SERIOUSLY can't go wrong, they are ALL delicious!
