The Black Cloister Blend

This was one of the first blends I purchased when starting with Gillespie many years ago, and it is one that I seem to come back to - kind of like a favorite old sweater. I have enjoyed all of the coffee I have picked out, but this one is flavorful and yet not bitter, it is smooth and drinkable for many cups during the day. (it is actually brown not black)

For reference: for decades, my favorite Starbucks coffee (I know, I know. . .) has been "Komodo Dragon." So, I've long preferred my coffee super roasted- AND I consider enjoying the aroma of the beans-before and after grinding- as part of the gestalt kaffee experience.
THe singular thing that I've noticed about Black Cloister is its herbal undertones. Always such a great sip without too much acidity, so smooth. I could drink it all day.

Black Cloister is a hit with our dark roast coffee drinkers. Rich and full bodied without being over caffeinated. Void of bitter aftertaste.

Really pleasant flavor that doesn’t need any amendments, but maintains its taste even if you choose to add something like half and half. I’m gonna be buying this one for a long time!

Delicious! Deep, rich but not too bitter, and with notes that remind me of chocolate, the Black Cloister Blend tastes the way that coffee should taste.

It tastes exactly as described. Smooth and delicious, also clean. I’ve never really had a coffee that was “mine,” but this is it.

This coffee is great. I brew it using the French press in the morning for my morning cup of coffee. Then in the afternoon I use the rest of it to make iced coffee. Let me tell you...using this for iced coffee is the best! The flavor is strong and really holds well even when ice is melting and watering it down. I will definitely order this again. This and the 1517 blend are staples for your pantry.

Some of the best coffee I’ve had. I can taste the freshness, being roasted only days before it arrived. I ground the beans myself and brewed… awesome!

This coffee is perfect for almost anyone. It is a basic roast that will make everyone happy and enjoy their morning coffee. This would be great for a church coffee.

This coffee is one of my new favorites! I opened the bag and smelled the beans - mmmmm! Once ground and brewed I found it to be smooth and rich. A nice beginning for my day. It complimented my cinnamon roll with its mellow, buttery flavor! I highly recommend this new coffee.
